Concept of Freedom
Challenging the position of some neuro-scientists, Lutz Wingert briefly describes a plausible concept of freedom briefly in Le Monde Diplomatique (January 2006, p. 5): Freedom of will should not be confused with chance. If you want something you must approve of it. You are free to do whatever you want, if you could also choose to do something else, but only if you have reasons to do it. Doing something without reason - like a person with a compulsion to wash (ablutomania) - is not free. You are free in your will, if you would want something else, if you had reasons for that.
